The SASE architecture has been defined in 2019 by Gartner and is based upon the design and realization of Cato Networks. These vendors claim to have the technology that it takes to be a SASE player. So, in this article we propose some questions to ask when evaluating of a particular vendor is able to claim the SASE architecture. Is it converged ? Is the solution built out of many existing components that have to perform their function separately ? This so called service-chaining is often detrimental to performance and experience, and often forces the administrator to use multiple loosely coupled tools to manage the entire network. Our NOC has been programmed with the relevant events that can occur on these systems so that we can deliver a very specific and accurate service. We are also able to intake all the logging of these platforms for historical reasons or for analysis. Our NOC contains all the tools needed from information gathering, to visualisation, to alerting and reporting. Een overaanbod van fabrikanten van firewalling, switching en draadloze netwerken maakt de keuze met de dag moeilijker. Bijvoorbeeld bij firewalling, het gros van de functionaliteiten dat echt gebruikt wordt lijnt de laatste jaren steeds meer uit. Hoe SD-WAN je meer zekerheid biedt dan MPLS 12 december 2019 Wanneer men informeert naar de keuze voor MPLS (Multi-Protocol Label Switching) is het antwoord meestal “zekerheid”. Die keuze was tot een aantal jaren geleden zeker niet ongegrond. Door middel van MPLS weten klanten zich relatief veilig en snel doorheen het netwerk van een operator een weg te banen naar andere delen van hun netwerk. Aan de dienstverlening van het MPLS netwerk worden ook meestal SLAs verbonden die de klant voorziet in de spreekwoordelijke stok achter de deur. Vandaag is het landschap echter drastisch veranderd en worden de nadelen van MPLS met de dag zichtbaarder. MPLS is statisch. Een MPLS netwerk wordt beheerd door de operator en wijzigt doorgaans enkel op vraag van de klant die uitbreidingen onder de vorm van Change Requests inschiet.
